Since coronavirus (COVID-19) was first detected in Vancouver, Black Top & Checker Cab (Black Top) has actively monitored the situation, as well as followed public health guidelines to ensure the safety of our customers and drivers.
As of early 2020, we have implemented five new measures to protect your health and safety while travelling on a Black Top taxi during COVID-19:
- Masks and gloves
We now provide our drivers with disposable masks and gloves and require them to be worn throughout the driver’s shift. We also encourage you to wear a face-covering when travelling with a Black Top cab.
2. Installed plexiglass barriers between the driver and the passengers
Plexiglass barriers are fitted inside each of our taxis to provide additional distancing between you and the driver.
3. Vehicle disinfection with 80% alcohol
We sanitize every taxi on our fleet with 80% alcohol sprays. Each vehicle is cleaned at the start of a driver’s shift and after every completed trip.
4. Regular health and safety reminders
Weekly reminders are sent to all Black Top’s drivers to ensure compliance with the newly established cleaning measures, such as vehicle disinfection and frequent hand washing.
5. Strict social distancing measures
We have limited the number of individuals allowed inside our admin office and parking lot to ensure proper social distancing. These measures were designed to keep our drivers, your direct point of contact with Black Top, safe.
With these measures in place, we hope to work with you in keeping each other safe while you complete essential trips across the city during this time.
At Black Top & Checker Cab, your safety is our top priority! Please feel free to call our dispatch team (604-731-1111) if you have any other questions or concerns about riding a Black Top taxi during COVID-19.
